After reading the below article on Mont Blanc, I wanted to offer my thoughts on the matter. Whilst solutions aren’t necessarily always apparent, we must be more aware and take a more proactive approach to improving our environment.

This incident is just one of a long line of indicators that show that our glaciers are in a near terminal decline. Only last week in Switzerland there was a wake for a glacier that had disappeared while the BBC reported on the loss of Himalayan glacial coverage in June this year

Since the 1950’s there has been an unprecedented raise in average global temperatures and over the same period Glacial loss has accelerated, while there is no direct coloration we would be naive to think that the two are unrelated. The loss of Glacial area has far reaching implications for the planet as well as us as a species…much of our fresh water comes from Glaciers.
In recent years we have seen a mass movement to try and slow the continual abuse of the environment, unfortunately this report is yet another reminder that our actions in this area need to be stronger if we are to achieve any results… our planet is slowing dying before our very eyes and we seem content to let that happen.
